The rock and roll history vault just burped up another legendary band - The Who. The band Eddie Vedder declared “the greatest live band ever” haven’t played in Brisbane for over 40 years, but they’ll be making it up to us on March 24 at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, with interesting supports Counting Crows and Dallas Crane.

There couldn’t be a better way to celebrate Australia Day than hanging out on the grassy slopes of the Riverstage listening to Australian music all day long. Hear & Now is proud to present a 100 percent Australian lineup for their festival on January 25, with the likes of Pnau, Spiderbait, Regurgitator, The Herd, Kate Miller-Heidke, Van She Tech, Grafton Primary, The Stafford Brothers, Bluejuice, Bang Gang DJs and more, representing the green and gold.

Great things happen when you take two exceptionally talented musicians and give them a 25 year friendship. Like David Byrne from Talking Heads and Brian Eno, who have been honouring their close partnership and long history of collaboration with some mindblowing concerts in the States recently. Supported by The Church and his own ten-piece band, David Byrne will bring this concert to the Brisbane Riverstage on Feb 7.

Ryan Adams & The Cardinals are returning to Australia in 2009 in support of their new album ‘Cardinology’. Anyone who saw them play when they were out here a few years ago will confirm that their show is spellbinding. Get along to The Tivoli on January 27.

Just in case there weren’t enough epic British super bands coming to Australia in the early half of next year, it’s just been confirmed that Coldplay will be playing two shows at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on March 8 and 9.

Admit it, all you really want for Christmas this year is a room full of porn stars. Your wish will be granted if you attend The Monastery IX Annual Pornstar Party on December 12. Dress as a porn star to get in cheaper, and then spend the night getting sexy to the beats of Bass Kleph, Out Of Office, Baby Gee, Danny T, Dominic James and Noy.

Melbourne record label Milestone are famous for putting on amazing parties in their hometown, and now they’re spreading the love around the country a little. Summer Tones at The Zoo on March 6 is a showcase of the label’s best, featuring Baltimore shock champion Dan Deacon, Brooklyn’s most percussive and melodic DIY duo High Places on their first Australian tour, as well as Lawrence Arabia, Beaches and The Ruby Suns.

Touring dates for the 2009 Future Music Festival have been announced. The festival that kindly delivered us The Chemical Brothers, John Digweed, Sven Vath and Roger Sanchez earlier this year will be doing it all again between Feb 28 and March 9. Stay tuned for venue and lineup information in coming weeks.

Don’t be a hungover sucker this New Years Day. Have a cold shower, knock back an energy drink and roll on down to BBQ Beats in the City Botanic Gardens. Seriously, you’d be a fool to miss out on the chance to see Public Enemy, South Rakkas Crew, Jackson Jackson, Mr Scruff, Sneaky Sound System, Aquasky, Bag Raiders Live, DJ Nu-Mark, Van She, Don Rimini, True Live and more on January 1.

It’s time to admit you’re a legendary guitarist when Fender makes a Stratocaster guitar in your honour. Jeff Beck is so much more than just a talented strummer though - he’s also a venerable songwriter. The English legend plays the Brisbane Convention Centre on January 29.
